Happy New Year, Sanborn Families!
Welcome to 2025! I hope you all had a wonderful and refreshing break filled with quality time and joyful moments. We are off to a fantastic start and are already taking meaningful steps toward reaching our end-of-year goals. Our students and teachers are diving right in, setting a great trajectory for continued growth and success.
With snowy weather upon us, please remember to send students in appropriate attire if they wish to enjoy the snow during recess. Without snow pants and boots, students will need to stay on the blacktop, so bundle them up for full snow-filled fun!
We’re also excited to announce that February will bring Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences! During these conferences, your child will take the lead as the “presenter,” sharing their progress and accomplishments this school year. Be on the lookout for more information so you can reserve your spot—we can’t wait to see you there!
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Go Dragons!!
Warm regards,
Lori Peeples
Principal, Sanborn Elementary
THERE IS NO LATE START IN JANUARY!! Our next late start will be 2-5-25!
Our next meeting is:
– Wednesday, January 8th, 2024
– 6:30 – 7:30 pm
– Sanborn Library
Can’t attend? Join the conversation online at https://sanborn.club (register with the invite code “dragons”).
If you would like to be a part of our fun parent group, please pop over on January 8th for our PASS meeting. Joining PASS (Parent Association for Sanborn Students) is a fantastic way to get involved and make a positive impact on our school community! By attending meetings, you’ll connect with other parents, gain insight into school happenings, and play a role in planning fun and enriching events for our students. Your input and involvement are invaluable to creating a supportive environment for all Sanborn families!
Before the holiday break, your children should have come home with a flyer about submitting art for the Sanborn yearbook cover. To provide some context: the 5th Grade Yearbook Club is wanting to highlight artwork from EVERY student at Sanborn by collecting one piece of art from every kid and then turning it into a mosaic on the cover.
To make this happen, we need your kids to submit their art by Jan. 10th. We also need it to be submitted in a square (1:1 ratio) form so that no one’s artwork gets cropped in the process.
The art can be hand-drawn, colored, or painted, or can be created in a program like Canva. Attached to the flyer is a sheet your child can create their art on. Or feel free to use your own paper, as long as it’s 1:1 (like 8×8 or 9×9, etc).
Please have your child turn their art in to their teacher by the deadline. If your child creates their art digitally, you can email it to Elicia Strazerri at [email protected].
ACCESS Testing January 14th-24th
Each year in Colorado and across the country, students in Kindergarten through 12th grade who are learning the English language are given an assessment called the ACCESS for English Language Learners. Students taking this test will be receiving a letter in their Tuesday folder today.
Ipads-
As we enter our testing season it is very important that all students are bringing their iPads to school charged every day.
Yearbooks are now available for sale!! This year we will be selling them online only. The cost is $24.00 and you can order until 3/3/25!! Please click on this link: https://plicbooks.com/go/5UHAVU
The district is offering Half Year iPad insurance for new students, as well as current students who did not opt into insurance at the beginning of the school year.
As new students enroll, they will automatically be assigned the $12.50 fee with an expiration date of 2 weeks. Parents will have 2 weeks to pay the fee before it is automatically voided.
For existing students who did not opt in at beginning of the school year, parents can pay for insurance for the remainder of the school year for $12.50. THE IPAD WILL HAVE TO BE INSPECTED AT SCHOOL BEFORE WE CAN OFFER THAT INSURANCE TO YOU.
If you have any questions, please call our office at 303-772-3838. Thank you!!!

Setting New Year Goals with Your Child
The New Year is the perfect time to set fresh goals with your child. Help them reflect on their accomplishments and identify areas they’d like to improve in the coming months. Break these goals into manageable steps, such as improving a specific skill, staying more organized, or developing better study habits. Celebrating small successes along the way keeps your child motivated and shows them that progress takes time and effort. Encourage them to stay positive and persistent when faced with challenges, reminding them that goals are about growth, not perfection.
