Dear Sanborn Dragon Thunder,

As spring blossoms around us, we’re thrilled to witness the fruits of our students’ hard work as testing season approaches. The dedication and effort they’ve put into their studies is truly commendable, and we’re confident they will showcase their best work during this time. Additionally, we’re delighted to announce the upcoming performance of Peter Pan by our talented Drama club this Friday night. It promises to be a magical evening filled with excitement and wonder. We hope to see you there, cheering on our budding actors and actresses. Thank you, as always, for your unwavering support and partnership in your child’s educational journey.

 Sincerely,

Lori Peeples

Eclipse:  As a reminder, Monday, April 8, a partial eclipse will be visible in Colorado between the approximate hours of 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Looking directly at the sun during an eclipse without proper safety eyewear can cause serious and permanent eye damage. We are not planning and/or sponsoring any activities during the school day where students will be observing the partial eclipse outdoors, due to the safety risks involved.

CMAS Testing :  Beginning on April 9th, 2024, Colorado students in grades 3 through 5 will be participating in CMAS, which measures student proficiency on the Colorado Academic Standards. These standards serve as clear guidelines for what students should know and be able to do by the end of the academic year across various grade levels and subject areas. The assessments cover English language arts and math for grades 3-5, and science for grade 5. CMAS is a critical tool in assessing student progress and ensuring that our educational system is meeting the needs of our students.

IMPORTANT: ALL iPads at School:  In preparation for the upcoming assessments, I want to inform you that our school will need to keep all student (Grades K-5) iPads at school during this testing window to help ensure that each student is adequately prepared for testing. Please send in your student’s iPad to school on Thursday, March 27th, 2024. All student iPads will remain at school until April 19th, 2024.

DRAGON DROPS

Science is all around us, and finding ways to incorporate it into our daily lives can be both fun and educational for our children. Whether it’s observing nature on a walk, conducting simple experiments in the kitchen, or discussing the science behind everyday phenomena, there are countless opportunities to spark curiosity and foster a love for learning. Encouraging questions, exploring answers together, and nurturing a sense of wonder can go a long way in cultivating a deeper understanding of the world around us. Let’s embark on this scientific journey with our children, igniting their passion for discovery one conversation at a time.

Go Dragons!
