Dear Sanborn Dragons,
As we move into the chillier months of fall, it’s a great time to remind everyone about labeling those jackets, sweatshirts, hats, and gloves! This will help us reunite lost items with their owners quickly as students begin layering up for the colder weather.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for the incredible turnout at our recent parent-teacher conferences. The strong connection and partnership between home and school are key to supporting your child’s growth and success. Your involvement truly makes a difference!
We’re also thrilled to share that our PASS-sponsored fundraiser is in full swing! The Dragon Dash is just around the corner on October 25th, and I am excited to run alongside students and staff. We are aiming to raise $15,000 to support enriching educational programs for our students, and if we meet that goal, we’ll even have a Mascot Race featuring our staff! It’s going to be a blast!
We’re so fortunate to be part of such a supportive community, and I can’t thank you enough for all your efforts to make this fundraiser a success. Your participation directly impacts the learning experiences we can provide.
Looking forward to more exciting days ahead this fall for our Dragons!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Peeples
Principal

St. Vrain Preschool Literacy Night with Author Rosemary Wells, Tuesday Oct. 15
Preschool families in St. Vrain Valley Schools are invited to a special literacy night featuring renowned author Rosemary Wells on October 15 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., at the Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools. Rosemary Wells, celebrated for her beloved characters like Max & Ruby, Noisy Nora, and Yoko, will read her book “If You Believe in Me,” which preschoolers have received as part of our early reading initiative. During the event, Rosemary will lead a discussion on the book’s themes, demonstrate her approach to character creation as the book’s illustrator, and sign students’ individual books. Students will participate in an art activity during a portion of the event, exploring different mediums similar to what Rosemary uses for her illustrations.

Fall/ Halloween Fun and Parade: Thursday, October 31st from 8:45-9:15AM Sanborn will be having our annual Fall/Halloween Parade! Students can come dressed in their costumes to school and participate in a “parade” around our school. The parade will take place outside. We will have our students start the parade by exiting the building out of the front door. The line will start with preschool, then kindergarten and 1st grade will follow. Then will be 2nd grade with 3rd, 4th , and 5th grade following in order. The parade will walk around the side of the building toward the “Drive Up” side-. Students will stay on the sidewalks. The route will head toward the blacktop and circle around the blacktop play area. That will be the conclusion of the parade. At that time, we will take the students inside. Costumes/Snacks: If you choose to send in snacks for your child’s class, please note that we can only allow for commercially produced, individually wrapped Halloween treats/drinks. For costumes- please avoid “gory” costumes. Please note that students are not allowed to have any items that are considered “weapons” that go with the costume. Please also send in a change of clothes with your student so they can change out of their costume after the parade.

Supporting Your Child’s Social-Emotional Well-Being
Social-emotional skills like empathy, self-regulation, and cooperation are just as important as academics in your child’s development. At home, you can support this by teaching your child how to identify and express their emotions in healthy ways. Encourage conversations about feelings and discuss strategies for managing difficult situations, such as using calming techniques or talking to a trusted adult. Practice problem-solving together and role-play scenarios they might face with peers. Reinforcing these skills helps your child build stronger relationships and navigate challenges at school with confidence and resilience.
