12-3-24

Dear Dragon Families,

December is such a magical and exciting time at Sanborn Elementary! The energy in the air is contagious as we dive into the holiday season with our 10 Days of Holly Jolly Fun. From festive spirit dress-up days to a creative classroom door decorating contest, the halls are buzzing with joy. We’re also hoping to host our much-anticipated Dragon Dash Inflatable Costume Staff Race before winter break—an event sure to bring smiles to everyone!

Amid all the festivities, our students are also working hard on their middle-of-the-year assessments. They’ll be reflecting on the goals they set back in August and September, aiming to meet or exceed their targets in iReady reading and math. It’s wonderful to see their determination and growth!

This month is also filled with special events:

  • Choir concerts to showcase our talented young musicians.
  • An Academic All-Star Ceremony to celebrate student achievements.
  • Winter classroom celebrations to end the semester with holiday cheer.

As a reminder, tomorrow is Late Start for grades K-5th, and school will begin at 11:00 a.m. Please plan accordingly so your student arrives ready for another fantastic day of learning and fun!

Thank you to our incredible community for your continued support and partnership. Together, we create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for our students. Let’s make this December one to remember!

Warm regards,

Lori Peeples

DRAGON DROPS

(Welcome to *Dragon Drops*—your quick dose of helpful tips and info to support you and your child throughout the school year. In each newsletter, this section will offer little drops of advice, ideas, and reminders to help guide your family on the path to success, one step at a time!)

Healthy Eating Habits for Better Learning

Good nutrition is directly linked to academic success and overall well-being. Ensure your child starts the day with a balanced breakfast that includes protein, whole grains, and fruits to fuel their body and mind for the school day. Pack nutritious lunches and snacks that provide sustained energy and help with concentration. Teaching children to make healthy food choices early on sets them up for lifelong wellness. Additionally, staying hydrated is crucial—encourage your child to drink water throughout the day to stay focused and alert. A well-nourished body supports an active, engaged mind!
