Dear Sanborn Dragon Thunder,

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits as we embrace the festive and spooky season! It’s been heartwarming to witness the enthusiasm and creativity with which our students have embraced this time of year, from their adorable costumes to the wonderful decorations throughout the school. Their excitement is truly infectious, and it brings a special kind of magic to our hallways.

I’d also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation for the fantastic participation in our recent Dragon Dash Fundraiser. Your support has been instrumental in ensuring that we continue to provide quality education and valuable resources for our students. Together, we are building a stronger and brighter future for them, and for that, I am immensely grateful.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s a perfect opportunity to reflect on the things we hold dear. I’m thankful for the incredible Sanborn community that makes our school a welcoming and nurturing environment for our children. Your involvement, support, and dedication to your children’s education are a constant source of inspiration.

As we approach the season of gratitude, let us remember to be thankful for the little things that make our school so special. Our shared commitment to our children’s growth and development is something to celebrate and cherish. Thank you for your cooperation and support!

It was so fun to see all the excitement surrounding our annual costume parade!  We made a quick shift to hold the parade inside to help keep the kiddos (and families) warm!  Thank you to those who were able to come and see the parade of dressed-up students walk in the parade!  I hope the evening is safe and fun for all those who participate in Trick or Treating!!

Dragon Dash Jog-A-Thon: WOW!!!  Our Sanborn community rallied to meet the school goal of $12,000!! Then, our PASS group put out a “stretch goal” of 16,000!! AND WE DID IT!!!! Way to go, DRAGONS!!  You met and beat all the goals for the fundraiser this year!! The PASS group will be sending home information on the prizes with dates of fulfillment soon!  WAY TO SOAR DRAGONS!!

Picture retake day is Wednesday, November 8th. Retake day is for new students, students that were absent on the original picture day, students that are returning their original photos for retakes and new purchasing students.

You can access the online ordering portal by going to www.mymjthomas.com and entering our school’s event password: C505. Online ordering ends at 7AM on the day of pictures. We also have order forms in the office upon request.

King Soopers:  Go online to Kingsoopers.com and create an account.  (This can also be done through the app.)  Simply register your King Soopers reward card under “King Soopers Community Rewards” at the bottom of the page.  Under “Find An Organization” enter the code for Sanborn: QP883.  Now every time you shop at King Soopers you are helping support Sanborn!!!  These funds are used to fund extra support at recess!!

DRAGON DROPS

Teaching gratitude to our children is a valuable lesson that goes beyond polite manners; it’s about fostering a positive outlook on life. By practicing gratitude together, we can help our kids develop a sense of appreciation and empathy. Here are some activities you can do with your children to promote gratitude:

1. Gratitude Journal: Encourage your child to keep a gratitude journal. Each day, ask them to write down a few things they are thankful for. This can help them focus on the positive aspects of their lives.

2. Thankful Tree: Create a “Thankful Tree” by drawing a tree trunk on a large piece of paper. Have your child cut out leaves and write something they’re grateful for on each leaf. Attach the leaves to the tree as a visual reminder of their blessings.

3. Acts of Kindness: Encourage your child to perform random acts of kindness, like helping a neighbor, sharing with a sibling, or making a surprise gift for a friend. Discuss how these actions make them and others feel.

4. Gratitude Walk: Take a nature walk and talk about the things you’re grateful for in the environment. This activity connects gratitude with appreciating the world around us.

5. Family Gratitude Circle: Create a daily or weekly gratitude circle, where each family member shares something they’re thankful for. This encourages open communication and creates a positive atmosphere.

6.Gratitude Scavenger Hunt: Organize a scavenger hunt with a gratitude twist. Instead of finding objects, the goal is to find things they’re grateful for in your home or community.

7.Create a Gratitude Jar: Start a gratitude jar where everyone can drop notes of things they’re thankful for. Read these notes together periodically.

Together, we can help our children develop a positive and grateful outlook on life.
