Dear Sanborn Families,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!
I am thrilled to welcome you and your children as we embark on an exciting new journey—because at Sanborn, it’s Time to Soar! There’s no time like the present to embrace learning, growth, and community, and together we will make this school year truly memorable.
This year holds special significance as we celebrate Sanborn Elementary’s 40th anniversary—forty years of inspiring minds and shaping futures! In October, we will honor our past with a celebration. More details are coming soon, and we can’t wait to share this milestone with you.
Our dedicated team has been working hard to create meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence. We are committed to giving your child the tools they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. We are thrilled to welcome new members to the Sanborn family, each bringing unique strengths and talents to our school. Ms. Ewing joins our 5th grade team, bringing creativity and a passion for helping students reach their highest potential. Mrs. Capener joins our 1st grade team and is known for her nurturing approach and ability to make learning fun and engaging for our youngest learners. Mrs. Lopez joins our 4th grade team with a wealth of knowledge and experience, along with a strong commitment to student success. Mr. Salgado joins our Special Education team with years of expertise and a reputation for building strong, supportive relationships with students and families. Finally, Mrs. Morgan joins us as our Multi-Language Teacher, and she is fantastic at helping multilingual learners feel confident and included while achieving academic success. We are so fortunate to have these talented educators join us, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact they will make in our classrooms and school community.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, let’s make the most of this moment. It’s Time to Soar, and the time is now!
Warm regards,
Lori Peeples
Principal

Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document. To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here. Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support.

To help ensure safety and provide the most efficient environment during arrival and dismissal time, we appreciate all families helping to follow our procedures. In the parking lot/Walk Up side- please only park in the provided spaces. We ask students to have an adult with them as they walk through the lot. On the Drive-Up side, please allow for the movement of vehicles through the Drive-Up line. Please stay in your vehicle and continue to pull forward and allow other cars to move through the line with you. If you choose to park on the opposite side of the street, please use the crosswalks at either end of the street to get to the school. Thank you for your cooperation.

At Sanborn, we believe that strong schools are built through collaboration between families, staff, and the community. Our School Accountability Committee (SAC) values the input of parents and community members in shaping the educational experience for all students. By working together, we ensure that the unique needs of our school are met and that every child has the opportunity to thrive. The SAC serves in an advisory role to the school principal. While the principal is ultimately responsible for meeting all federal, state, and district requirements and achieving academic goals set by St. Vrain Valley Schools (SVVSD), SAC members provide valuable input and guidance in key areas.
What does the SAC do?
- Budget Priorities: Recommends spending priorities for school funds before the budget is finalized, ensuring alignment with the school’s core values and improvement plan.
- School Data and Unified Improvement Plans: Offers recommendations on the school’s Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) and meets quarterly to review progress toward improvement goals.
25-26 SAC Meetings:

Sanborn Elementary is looking for a Recess Paraprofessional to help supervise students during recess and lunch periods. This role is essential to keeping our students safe and engaged, and it is required on all student school days. The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you are interested in joining our team and supporting our students, please apply online at: https://www.applitrack.com/stvrain/onlineapp/default.aspx

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
If you have any questions, please contact Maisie Sky, our GT Coordinator.

Start Strong with Consistent Routines
A predictable routine is one of the best ways to set your child up for success both academically and emotionally. Begin the year by creating a structured morning and evening schedule that includes organizing school supplies, planning for the next day, and getting plenty of rest. Mornings go more smoothly when there’s no rush—wake up early, allow time for a healthy breakfast, and start the day calm and focused. In the evenings, set aside a quiet space for homework and take a few minutes to review assignments together. Consistency not only reduces stress but also teaches responsibility and independence. Strong routines help students develop time management skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.
