9-30-25

Dear Dragon Families,

Fall is in the air, and our students are soaking up the beautiful weather with lots of fun and energy at recess! With October beginning tomorrow, we are excited for a month that is absolutely packed with events and celebrations. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on October 6th, 7th, and 8th—please be sure to connect with your child’s teacher if you haven’t yet scheduled your conference so they can reserve a time for you. Our annual Dragon Dash fundraiser is right around the corner on October 17th, and students are already busy collecting donations to earn prizes. If we reach our school goal of $16,000, students will have the chance to select staff members to face off in hilarious inflatable jousting battles! October also brings our 40th Anniversary Open House on October 21st, where students are diving into the decades since Sanborn first opened, preparing learning exhibits, and even creating their own time capsules to be opened at their high school graduations. We’ll also open a past school time capsule and create a new one for future Dragons to enjoy. The day will include an assembly, schoolwide celebration, and an after-school event from 4:00–5:30, where past and present students, families, and staff will come together as one Dragon Family. Finally, we’ll close out the month with our Annual Fall Festival Costume Parade on October 31st, where students may choose to dress up in costume and parade around the building. October is full of joy, tradition, and community, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. Thank you, as always, for your continued support—Go Dragons!

Dragons SOAR!

Sincerely,

Lori Peeples

Principal

SVVSD Leadership Rep

Red Apple with the letters SAC in white across it.

At Sanborn, we believe that strong schools are built through collaboration between families, staff, and the community. Our School Accountability Committee (SAC) values the input of parents and community members in shaping the educational experience for all students. By working together, we ensure that the unique needs of our school are met and that every child has the opportunity to thrive.  The SAC serves in an advisory role to the school principal. While the principal is ultimately responsible for meeting all federal, state, and district requirements and achieving academic goals set by St. Vrain Valley Schools (SVVSD), SAC members provide valuable input and guidance in key areas.

What does the SAC do?

  • Budget Priorities: Recommends spending priorities for school funds before the budget is finalized, ensuring alignment with the school’s core values and improvement plan.
  • School Data and Unified Improvement Plans: Offers recommendations on the school’s Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) and meets quarterly to review progress toward improvement goals.

Welcome to *Dragon Drops*—your quick dose of helpful tips and info to support you and your child throughout the school year. In each newsletter, this section will offer little drops of advice, ideas, and reminders to help guide your family on the path to success, one step at a time!

Celebrating Effort, Not Just Results
Recognize and praise the effort your child puts into learning, not just the final outcome. Saying things like “I’m proud of how hard you worked on that project” encourages perseverance and resilience. Effort-based praise helps children understand that learning is a process and mistakes are opportunities to grow. This mindset fosters confidence and a love of learning that goes far beyond grades.
