Dear Sanborn Families–

I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to you and your children as we embark on the exciting journey of the 2024-2025 school year. It is an honor and a privilege to partner with you in the education and growth of our young learners. Your unwavering support and commitment to your child’s education make a profound difference, and together, we can create a nurturing and inspiring environment where our students will thrive.

As we look ahead, a powerful energy is rising within our school—our Dragon Power! This year, we will not only discover the strength in ourselves but also in our community, as we channel the fierce and determined spirit of the dragon. Our dedicated team of educators has been hard at work preparing engaging lessons, exciting activities, and a safe learning space that fosters curiosity, creativity, and the confidence to conquer new challenges.

We are committed to providing your child with the tools they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. I encourage you to stay connected with us, participate in school activities, and communicate with your child’s teachers as we work together to make this year a memorable and enriching experience for all.

Let’s show our Dragon Power as we soar through a fantastic school year filled with growth, learning, and countless moments of inspiration!

Warm regards,

Lori Peeples

2024-2025 SVVSD CODE OF CONDUCT- Signature Required

Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document. To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

To help ensure safety and provide the most efficient environment during arrival and dismissal time, we appreciate all families helping to follow our procedures. In the parking lot/Walk Up side- please only park in provided spaces. We ask students to have an adult with them as they walk through the lot. On the Drive-Up side, please allow for the movement of vehicles through the Drive-Up line. Please stay in your vehicle and continue to pull forward and allow other cars to move through the line with you. If you choose to park on the opposite side of the street, please use the crosswalks at either end of the street to get to the school. Thank you for your cooperation.

All students in SVVSD have access to free school meals thanks to the Healthy School Meals for All program approved by Colorado voters. Please continue to fill out the Education Benefit Form every year as this helps our district access all available funds and grants to assist in educational programs for students. Families who fill out the form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, utilities support and more! Please click HERE for more information.

Image of a white carton of milk with blue accents. Text: Milk

We wanted to provide some clarification on purchasing milk from the lunchroom. Students can purchase milk from the cafeteria for 75 cents. They can give the money to cashier. HOWEVER—even if they bring a cold lunch they can get free milk by getting a hot lunch as well. From the district website:

What makes a meal free?

A student must take at least 3 components, 1 being a 1/2c fruit or vegetable. A good rule of thumb:

  • 1 Entrée (equals 2 components), and 1/2 cup of fruit or vegetable; or
  • 1/2 cup fruit, 1/2 cup vegetable, and a milk; or
  • Any 4 or more components! Students are welcome to take 1 serving of each food group (meat/meat alternate, grain, fruit, vegetable, milk).

We are registering for all grades!!

Please visit the SVVSD enrollment webpage for more information or contact our Registrar, Sarah Adams, [email protected] (303)772-3838.

DRAGON DROPS

(Welcome to *Dragon Drops*—your quick dose of helpful tips and info to support you and your child throughout the school year. In each newsletter, this section will offer little drops of advice, ideas, and reminders to help guide your family on the path to success, one step at a time!)

Creating Positive Routines for a Successful School Year

Establishing consistent routines helps students thrive academically and emotionally. Start the year by setting up a morning and evening schedule that includes organizing school materials, preparing for the next day, and allowing enough time for sleep. Encourage a calm, focused morning by getting up early enough to avoid rushing, and always ensure your child eats a healthy breakfast. In the evenings, create a quiet space for homework and review assignments together. This consistency helps reduce anxiety, builds responsibility, and keeps your child prepared and excited for each day. Remember that routines are also valuable for instilling time management skills, which are essential for lifelong success.
