THE SANBORN SCOOP 3-31-26

Hello Dragon Families,

As we roll into April, we are entering an important and focused time of the school year. CMAS testing for our 3rd–5th grade students will begin on April 7 and continue through April 24. During this time, both students and staff really hunker down and give their best effort as they work toward reaching their end-of-year goals. This is a great opportunity for students to show what they know and how much they have grown. Families can play an important role by helping students stay focused and confident. Making sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and offering encouraging pep talks can go a long way in boosting their confidence. We are proud of the hard work our students have put in all year and know they will SOAR!

Sincerely,

Lori Peeples

Principal

ParentSquare: Our New District Communication Tool

St. Vrain Valley Schools will begin using ParentSquare, a new district communication tool that allows families to receive notifications based on their preferences. St. Vrain’s communications team will pilot ParentSquare for the remainder of the school year with the plan to expand access to schools at the start of the 2026-27 school year. We’re excited about the opportunities ParentSquare offers to streamline communication and will be working towards consolidating several of the tools families currently use into one convenient platform.

After spring break, parents and guardians will receive an email invitation to activate their ParentSquare account. This will allow families to download the mobile app, set language preferences, and choose how and when they receive notifications.

Visit the district website to learn more about ParentSquare.

DON’T WAIT!!!!

THE DEADLINE FOR PREORDERING A YEARBOOK HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MARCH 31ST, 2026.

We were able to extend the deadline to 3-31-26. QUANTITIES ARE LIMITED, so order while you can to ensure your child receives one! In past years, we’ve had some disappointed students, and we want to prevent that from happening. THANK YOU!!

CMAS Testing Window

Beginning on April 7th – April 24th, 2026, Colorado students in grades 3 through 5 will be participating in CMAS, which measures student proficiency on the Colorado Academic Standards. These standards serve as clear guidelines for what students should know and be able to do by the end of the academic year across various grade levels and subject areas. The assessments cover English language arts and math for grades 3-5, and science for grade 5. CMAS is a critical tool in assessing student progress and ensuring that our educational system is meeting the needs of our students. To help your child perform their best on these assessments, it is essential that they are well-rested and present during their scheduled testing. To avoid missed instruction due to makeup testing, we kindly request that appointments and vacations be scheduled for non-testing days.

Preparing for Testing Season
Springtime brings standardized testing. Help your child feel confident by encouraging good sleep, healthy meals, and positive self-talk. Remind them that tests are just one measure of learning and to simply do their best. Reducing pressure helps students stay calm and focused.
