2-4-25
Dear Sanborn Families,
As we dive into February, the end of the 2nd trimester approaches and will conclude on Feb. 21st. Feb. 24th will begin the 3rd Trimester. As we embark on this final stretch of the school year, the push to reach our end-of-year goals is in full swing, and there’s a sense of excitement and focus in our classrooms. We’re incredibly proud of the hard work our students and staff have put in so far, and we’re eager to see their continued growth and achievements in the coming months. Last Saturday’s Robotics Tournament, hosted right here at Sanborn, was a resounding success! It was a thrill to witness the students’ creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in action. The energy in the gym was contagious, and it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate STEM learning. We were also especially impressed by our Student Council and Sanborn Merch Co. Club, and Student-Independent Contractors, who took the initiative to sell items at the tournament. In total, the groups raised nearly $1000.00 to spend back on their clubs, the school, and other fun ways! This provided a real-world, hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, allowing them to apply the concepts they’ve been learning in the classroom. This is a perfect example of our commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop essential entrepreneurial mindsets and skills. Looking ahead, we’re very much looking forward to our student-led parent-teacher conferences on February 11th, 12th, and 13th. Our students and staff have been diligently preparing their presentations, and we’re excited for you to see the incredible progress they’ve made. We believe this student-led format provides a powerful opportunity for students to reflect on their learning, take ownership of their progress, and share their accomplishments with their families. We encourage all families to attend – we look forward to seeing you there!
Warm regards,
Lori Peeples
Principal, Sanborn Elementary

Celebration of Excellence (formerly Tribute to Teachers) Nominations :
The St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation is thrilled to announce that the Celebration of Excellence (formerly Tribute to Teachers) nomination form opened on January 13th! This cherished annual event honors outstanding educators from every St. Vrain school who exemplify excellence in their roles and make extraordinary contributions to student success.
We invite students, parents, volunteers, fellow educators, school staff, community members, and business partners to nominate exceptional educators who inspire, innovate, and shape the future. In order to qualify, nominees must be licensed educators in the State of Colorado and employed at a St. Vrain Valley Schools campus for the current school year. Educators who received their school’s Educator of the Year honor within the past two years are not eligible.
Based on your nominations, one educator from each St. Vrain Valley school will be selected as their school’s Educator of the Year. These honorees will be recognized during the Celebration of Excellence on April 11, 2025, where a district-wide Educator of the Year will also be announced.
Nominations are open January 13 through February 5. Don’t miss this opportunity to recognize the educators who make a lasting impact in our schools and community! Submit your nomination today: https://stvrainfoundation.org/programs/celebration-of-excellence/

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!!

Chromebook Dragon Dollar Rental Fee (iPad left at home or not charged) : To further support our students’ development of key entrepreneurial skills like responsibility and resourcefulness, we’re introducing a new system regarding iPad use. Beginning February 10th, if a student forgets their charged iPad at home, they will have the opportunity to “rent” a Chromebook for the day for 1 Dragon Dollar. To help jump start this process, we will be giving every student a free Dragon Dollar to start. They can use that Dragon Dollar to “rent” a Chromebook if needed at some point this year. This experience provides a real-world learning opportunity about managing resources and being prepared, valuable skills for any future entrepreneur. This approach is designed to be a positive learning experience, fostering good habits and promoting accountability in a supportive environment. Our intention is to empower students, not to cause embarrassment. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation!

There is no school on Friday, 2-14-25 and Monday, 2-17-25.

Understanding and Supporting Your Child’s Learning Style
Every child learns differently, and understanding your child’s unique learning style can help you better support them academically. Some children thrive through hands-on experiences, while others prefer visual or auditory learning. Pay attention to how your child absorbs information and help them develop strategies that suit their strengths. For example, visual learners may benefit from charts and diagrams, while kinesthetic learners may excel through movement and activities. By tailoring your support to their needs, you can help your child engage more deeply with their learning and feel more confident in their abilities.
