5-6-25
Dear Dragon Families,
As we near the end of another wonderful school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible academic and personal growth we’ve seen in our students. The energy in our building is contagious as we gear up for end-of-year assessments—a great opportunity to reflect on just how far our young Dragons have come. One of the true highlights this spring was watching our Drama Club’s performance of 101 Dalmatians! Under the direction of Mrs. Sky and Mrs. Benner, our students put on a star-quality show that lit up the stage. We are so lucky to have such talented Dragons among us!
There’s still plenty of fun ahead, including the PASS Ice Cream Social on Thursday, May 15th at 6:00 PM—bring cash if you’d like to purchase items from our amazing Young Entrepreneurs. We’re also excited for New Games Day, where our 5th graders invent and teach their own creative games to younger students, and of course, the much-anticipated Staff vs. 5th Grade Kickball Game!
We’ll wrap it all up with one final Sanborn Scoop on May 20th, filled with important end-of-year information. Thank you for your continued support, enthusiasm, and partnership—it truly makes all the difference. Let’s finish the 2024–25 school year strong and make these last few weeks ones to remember.
GO DRAGONS!
Mrs. Peeples
Principal

The chosen games will be played by our primary grades for a fun experience with laughter and excitement.

SANBORN SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITTEE: School-level Accountability Committee (SAC) believes in the value of community involvement in our schools. Active parent engagement helps to ensure the unique needs of the school’s community are served through a positive collaboration between the school’s leaders, staff, and members of the community. The school-level accountability committee (SAC) serves in an advisory role to the school principal. If you would like to be involved in our School Accountability Committee, please contact our office at 303-772-3838 for more information.
SAC Meetings: Sanborn School Accountability Committee Meetings will be held once a trimester. The last meeting will be held on Thursday, May 15th, 3:45-4:45 PM.

PASS Ice Cream Social / Yearbook Signing Event: Our wonderful PASS parent group is hosting our Annual Ice Cream Social on May 15th from 6:00-7:00 PM. This will take place in our back playground area. We would love to see everyone there to enjoy a yummy treat and to get their yearbook signed! Please report directly to the back area of the school to take part in this fun social event!! Don’t forget a pen/marker and your yearbook or autograph paper to have friends and staff sign their names!! (Yearbooks to be distributed on Friday, May 9th.)

“Move Up” Day: On Tuesday, May 20th, our students will get to “move up” to the next grade for a quick peek and introduction to the next grade. Students will be escorted by 5th grade leaders to their next grade level to see the new area. This is a fun experience for our students to feel the excitement of what next year has in store for them!

Longmont High School Graduation Sanborn “Walk”: We will host graduating students from Longmont High School on a celebratory walk through our building during our last week of school. This is a fun way for our students to “peek into the future” and see graduates in their caps and gowns!

Update: CHANGE OF DATE for the 5th Grade Continuation Ceremony: Please note a change to our 5th Grade Continuation Ceremony. Due to a scheduling conflict, the ceremony will now take place on Tuesday, May 20th from 6:00–7:00 PM. We apologize for the change and truly appreciate your flexibility and support as we work to make this a special and memorable event for our students and families. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Preschool Celebration: Our preschool program will be hosting a celebration on Thursday, May 22 from 10:00-11:00 AM on their playground!!

A note from the health office: Please make sure all medication is picked up by Thursday, 05/22/25. Per district policy medication cannot be sent home with students, and must be signed out by a parent. Any medication not picked up will be destroyed. Office hours are 7:30-3:30. Please contact Heather Huizenga with any questions. If your student has borrowed any clothing from the health office, please wash and return these items.

24-25 Last Day of School-Farewell Picnic: We will host our End of The School Year Farewell Picnic on May 22nd at 11:30-12:30. Families are welcome to come and bring lunch to enjoy a picnic by our playground. If you would like to come enjoy lunch with your student on this last day of school, please note our procedures for this event:
**Please do not check into the front office. Instead, you will need to go to the back field area to find your child’s teacher. The back field will be divided by grades with signs. (If you have multiple students in different grades/classes, you will need to sign one out to sit with another student/grade). If you decide that you would like for your student(s) to leave after the picnic, you will need to SIGN them out from their teacher. Each teacher will have a sign out sheet. If your student will not be leaving, please do not sign them out and they will return with their teacher to the class after the picnic.

End-of-Year Reflection: Celebrating Achievements
As the school year comes to a close, take time to reflect on your child’s growth—both academically and personally. Sit down together and talk about the goals they’ve reached, challenges they’ve overcome, and the new skills they’ve developed. Celebrate the big wins and the small victories—whether it was mastering multiplication, making a new friend, or showing kindness when it mattered most. These conversations help build confidence, reinforce a growth mindset, and remind your child how much they’ve accomplished. A simple note, a family high-five, or a special treat can go a long way in helping them feel proud and ready for the next adventure!
