Dear Sanborn Dragon Thunder,
As we enter the festive season, I extend my warmest greetings to you and your loved ones. It is truly a joyous time of the year, and I hope this letter finds you surrounded by warmth and happiness. Our school has been abuzz with exciting activities, and it’s heartening to see the enthusiasm and participation of our students. From engaging classroom projects to lively extracurricular events, the spirit of learning is thriving within our halls. I am thrilled to share the fantastic news that our students have made remarkable strides in reaching their mid-year goals. Witnessing their achievements is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the supportive community we have cultivated together. I am particularly proud to announce that our school has shown a remarkable increase of 23 percentage points in the mid-year iReady reading assessment and a commendable 12 percentage points increase in the math mid-year iReady assessment for our beginning of the year assessments. This significant progress puts us on a promising trajectory to meet our end-of-year reading and math goals. Such accomplishments are a result of the collaborative efforts of our dedicated educators, engaged parents, and, most importantly, the determination of our students. Together, we are shaping a learning environment that fosters growth and success. As we approach the winter break, I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation for your continued support. Your involvement is instrumental in creating a positive and thriving school community.
Wishing you and your families a wonderful winter break filled with joy, laughter, and memorable moments. May you enjoy quality time together, creating cherished memories. I wish you all a very Happy New Year! We eagerly anticipate welcoming everyone back on January 8th for the remainder of what promises to be an outstanding school year.

Colorado Read Act Survey: As you may know, the Colorado READ (Reading to Ensure Academic Development) Act provides funding and a framework for improving literacy outcomes for kindergartners through third graders, particularly those with “Significant Reading Deficiencies” (SRDs) who are at risk to not read at grade level by third grade. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has been working with WestEd and its partners to conduct a legislatively mandated evaluation of the READ Act since March 2020.
The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept confidential.
We are only asking you to complete the survey if your child has ever been identified as having a significant reading deficiency (SRD) and/or has ever been given a READ plan.
If you have multiple children in kindergarten through grade 3 who have been identified as having a significant reading deficiency, please complete a separate survey for each child. Thank you in advance for your participation in this parent survey. We greatly appreciate your time and willingness to share your experience. DRAGON DROPS
Embrace the winter wonderland with math-filled family fun! Try creating snowflake symmetry by folding paper and cutting out unique designs. Turn baking into a delicious math lesson by measuring ingredients together for festive treats. Explore geometric shapes by building snow forts or crafting snow sculptures in your backyard. Take a nature walk and count the different winter elements you encounter, from snowflakes to icicles. Challenge each other to a friendly game of winter-themed math board games or puzzles. Practice multiplication and/or addition with a snowball fight, assigning different point values to snow targets based on multiplication and/or addition facts. Get creative with snow painting, using numbers and equations to add an educational twist to your snowy masterpieces. Use the winter break to bake and decorate cookies with math symbols – a tasty way to reinforce mathematical concepts. Finally, cozy up with a math-themed storybook and discuss the numerical elements within the narrative. Enjoy the break, and let math become a delightful part of your winter family adventures!
