Dear Dragon Families,

As we move through November, there is so much to be thankful for here at Sanborn. The school year is in full swing, and our students continue to learn, grow, and shine each day. It’s been wonderful to see their excitement and effort in all they do!

This morning, we began our day in a very special way to honor Veterans Day. Our choir beautifully sang the National Anthem, and then our entire school gathered at the flagpole to recite the Pledge of Allegiance together. It was a meaningful way to show respect for our veterans and start the day strong. Students and staff are now deep in their work toward meeting midyear goals, and our students are still talking about how much they enjoyed our October activities!

As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s the perfect time to talk with students about gratitude. We should recognize the good in our lives, show appreciation to others, and find joy in simple moments. Gratitude helps build kindness, empathy, and stronger connections with one another. I want to close by sharing my heartfelt gratitude for all our Sanborn families, students, and staff. I am truly thankful to work alongside such a fantastic and caring community!

Sincerely,

Lori Peeples

Principal

Mid-Year Diagnostic Testing

Our midyear diagnostic testing window will open on December 1 and run through December 19. During this time, students will take their i-Ready Reading and Math assessments, which measure progress and help identify specific areas for continued growth. They will also complete the DIBELS 8 assessment, which focuses on important reading skills such as fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. Each student has set personal academic goals for these assessments and has been working hard to reach them. The results help teachers adjust instruction to best support each learner’s needs. Please encourage your student(s) to do their very best and take pride in showing all they’ve learned.

And be sure to look for their results once testing is complete.

Practicing Gratitude as a Family
November is a great time to focus on gratitude. Encourage your child to share one thing they are thankful for each day, and share your own, too. Consider starting a gratitude jar or journal. Practicing gratitude improves mood, strengthens relationships, and teaches children to appreciate both big and small moments in life. A positive mindset supports both emotional and academic growth.
