12-2-25
Dear Dragon Families,
Welcome back, Sanborn families! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break filled with rest, family, and friends. As we enter the three weeks leading up to winter break, this time always seems to go by quickly. During this period, students will be completing their Middle of the Year diagnostic assessments. They have set personal iReady goals, and we encourage you to ask them about these goals and how they feel they’re progressing. A reminder that we have a Late Start this Wednesday, with students beginning at 10:55 a.m. With the colder weather, please be mindful of arrival times—students should not arrive too early, as it can be very chilly while waiting outside. On regular school days, please send students to school at 8:15 a.m.
We are excited for this wonderful season ahead.
Sincerely,
Lori Peeples
Principal

MID-YEAR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
Our midyear diagnostic testing window will open on December 1 and run through December 19. During this time, students will take their i-Ready Reading and Math assessments, which measure progress and help identify specific areas for continued growth. They will also complete the DIBELS 8 assessment, which focuses on important reading skills such as fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. Each student has set personal academic goals for these assessments and has been working hard to reach them. The results help teachers adjust instruction to best support each learner’s needs. Please encourage your student(s) to do their very best and take pride in showing all they’ve learned.
And be sure to look for their results once testing is complete!!

Building Responsibility at Home
The winter season is a great time to help your child build responsibility and independence. Simple routines like having them pack their backpack, choose their outfit for the next day, or help with small household tasks can make a big difference. These responsibilities boost confidence, teach problem-solving, and help children feel capable and proud of their contributions. Small steps at home lead to big growth in school!

100 Mile Club is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in physical activity which will help them better focus on their learning, and develop an appreciation for running.
